Day 32: Grand Western Adventure

Day 32: Wednesday, May 14th

Goosenecks State Park and Driving Tour through Valley of the Gods

We drove about 20 miles north of Monument Valley to see Goosenecks State Park. It was incredible.
We saw a few rafters far, far below on the river.

We walked along the rim for a while and then returned for a picnic lunch.

Rock sample.

Next we drove north past Goosenecks to an unpaved 17 mile road called the Valley of the Gods. Driving very slowly and stopping for pictures, it took about 1 1/2 hours. But the views were breathtaking.

We past only a few cars and trucks along this route.

We headed back to camp during the late evening and spotted a small museum near our campground. Interested, we spent 1/2 hour strolling thru their exhibits. Mostly, about the Gouldings early lives in the valley and various western movies that had been filmed here.
